Jail Facility Overview in Gwinnett County
Gwinnett County has a single county jail facility. The Gwinnett County Jail is comprised of the Plunkett Building and the Wimberly Tower and is overseen by the county sheriff’s office. Gwinnett County Visitation Rules and Schedules
In-person visitation is not allowed at the Gwinnett County jail. Notwithstanding, family and friends can contact inmates through mail, phone services, or video services. Visitors are only allowed at the Phillips State Prison and the Gwinnett County Correctional Institution. A person must gain approval by completing the visitation request form and submitting a notarized copy of this form along with a copy of supporting documentation to the specific facility where the inmate is being held. Forms can be submitted in person or by mail.
Intending visitors can also submit forms online. To complete the online form, a person is required to provide the inmate’s GDC ID, the requestor’s full name, email address, relationship with the inmate, date of birth, and driver’s license or state ID number. Note that requests can only be made by individuals 18 years and older. Visitors are allowed until 5:00 P.M.
Mailing and Commissary Information
Inmates at the Gwinnett County Jail are allowed to receive mail from friends and loved ones. With the exception of legal correspondence, all mail to inmates must be a postcard, at least 3.5 x 4.25 inches and no larger than 4.25 x 6 inches.
