Criminal Records Access in Gwinnett County
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation handles official state-level criminal history inquiries for Gwinnett County. The county courts and clerk offices do not perform criminal history checks in Gwinnett County. Requests for criminal history information may be directed to the Crime Information Center-a division of the State’s Bureau of Investigation, the sheriff’s office or the police departments in the County.
The Gwinnett County Police Department reprocesses in-person requests for criminal history records for $20 per search. Interested persons must submit valid government-issued IDs and social security numbers. Local criminal case records are available online at the County Clerk of Court’s Court Portal or the Recorder’s Court Case Search tool. Interested persons may also submit in person requests to the court clerk’s office within official hours.
Gwinnett County Probate Records
The Gwinnett County Probate Court has jurisdiction over administration of estates, marriage Licenses, birth/death certificates, wills, certificates of residency, guardianships, conservatorships, outpatient assessments and involuntary hospitalizations and weapon licenses. Gwinnett County probate records are generally considered public and may be available to interested persons online or at the clerk’s office. The Clerk of the Probate Court maintains probate records and provides public access where necessary.
The Probate Court has digitized most of its archived records and books for easy public access. Electronic filing of records have also been introduced recently for records such as estates records, wills and probate filings, guardianships and conservatorships.
